Tesla is an American hard rock band formed in 1981 as City Kidd and then changed their name to Tesla in 1984.

The Album
Tesla’s twelfth studio album, Homage, was released on July 17, 2026.
The Songs
1. Never Alone. The first track is an original acoustic song, soft and mellow, like a power ballad. It’s cool; yet I would have chosen a more powerful song to open with, but it’s good, with good guitar work and a solo. However, it makes sense since it’s the track they wrote.
2. Bring It On Home (Sam Cooke). I knew this song mostly from The Animals’ version.
Tesla’s interpretation is done as a retro ballad, preserving more of Sam Cooke’s original style, that provoques emotional goosebumps. Yet, here they emphasize the guitar more than the piano, unlike the original and The Animals’ version.
3. Spread Your Wings (Queen). I don’t really like the original song, nor the cover.
4. I Wish It Would Rain (The Temptations). I love The Temptations and this song; it’s a very emotional ballad. This cover perfectly captures the emotion of the original that I love.
5. Night Moves (Bob Seger). Nice cover. Ballad. I really liked the last guitar solo.
6. If I Can Dream (Elvis Presley). Although I love Elvis, this song is kind of boring, yet Tesla gave it a rockier vibe that I really liked; it made the song much better. I liked it, good song, good guitar work. I liked it much more than the original, even though it might be sacrilege to say so. The Elvis version is a very 50s ballad, very gloomy, while the Tesla version is more on the rock side.
7. Come And Get It (Badfinger). The original song is somewhat uninspiring. The cover is a little better, but I still didn’t like it. They fixed it up a bit, but you can’t work miracles.
8. I Got You (I Feel Good) (James Brown). A tribute to an absolute classic, a good cover.
9. Give A Little Bit (Supertramp). I knew this cover was going to turn out well because it has a cool electro-acoustic vibe, sound, and even Supertramp singer Roger Hodgson has a similar voice to Keith’s tone, in my opinion.
10. I Love You (2026 Version) (Climax Blues Band). I’d heard the original a thousand times, but I didn’t know who sang it. Good cover.
11. Have You Ever Seen the Rain (Creedence Clearwater Revival). Nice cover, a classic.
12. The Ballad of Curtis Loew (Lynyrd Skynyrd). Cool, a country song by Lynyrd Skynyrd.
13. I’d Rather Go Blind (Etta James). I love Etta James. Beautiful cover, and I like that they sing it as referring to her, to Etta.
14. Mind Your Own Business (Hank Williams Sr.). Nice cover of a country legend. Tesla gave it their honky tonk town rocker touch. I love the piano. This was one of my favorite songs on the album.
Final Thoughts
Good album, good versions.
Very ballad-heavy, yes, although they are classic songs and many that I love, I would have preferred more rock songs.
The highlight for me is that, in general, they aren’t the most well-known songs from each band, artist, or musician, so that made it interesting.
