Motionless In White – Madrid, 2026 – Concert Review

Madrid, March 6, 2026

Palacio Vistalegre

The Afraid of the Dark Tour

Opening bands: Dayseeker, Make Them Suffer

It was a rainy and cold day in March, the day after my birthday. I arrived at the venue around 18.45, in the seated area, but even though I was far from the stage, I had a very nice view.

Make Them Suffer started at 19.00. The place was at half capacity, because people wanted to see the opening acts. In my case, I was very hyped to see them, because they had great and powerful songs, so I imagined they would put on a great show, and they did.

Make Them Suffer

They are an Australian band formed in 2008, which has released five studio albums to date. Being the latest one, the self-titled album was released on November 8, 2024.

Their genre is metalcore, yet they usually sound more aggressive, so they are also categorized as deathcore.

I knew the band because I wrote their self-titled album review for thisdayinmetal.com (you can read it Album Review_ Make Them Suffer – Self Titled).

I like their work very much, especially how heavy they sound with unclean vocals and dense music, but also catchy in the chorus, which was perfectly balanced with Alex’s vocals, who also plays keyboards and keytar. I love those combinations of male/female vocals. That back & forth between Sean and Alex is pure perfection.

Band members

  • Sean Harmanis – unclean vocals, clean vocals
  • Nick McLernon – guitar
  • Alex Reade – keyboards, keytar, piano, clean & unclean vocals
  • Jaya Jeffery – bass
  • Jordan Mather – drums

Make Them Suffer

My favorite tracks were Epitaph, Oscillator, and Doomswith (just to name a few) because I really loved their whole set, which was sick but short in length, for me. Of course, they were the first band, so that was expected. They played until 19.30.

Besides Motionless In White, I’m so happy to have seen Make Them Suffer. I loved their latest album, so I knew they would put on a killer show. Amazing band.

At 19.45, the second opening act, Dayseeker, began.

Dayseeker

They are an American post-hardcore band formed in 2012. The band is currently a trio after the departure of their guitarist, Gino Sgambelluri, last November.

They have released six studio albums; their most recent release, Creature in the Black Night, was in 2025.

Band members

  • Rory Rodriguez – lead vocals
  • Ramone Valerio – bass, backing vocals
  • Zac Mayfield – drums, percussion

Dayseeker

Even though they are typically classified as metalcore/post-hardcore, I would say they are more like emo mixed with 80s synthwave, breakdowns, and some gutturals/harsh vocals. They are more melodic in some songs, like the first one they played on this show, Pale Moonlight; they have a Bad Omens vibe.

In Shapeshift, I love the keys. Crawl Back to My Coffin, good, a hit. Bloodlust starts heavy, but in the verse gets melodic to then returns to the heavy side in the breakdown with harsh vocals.

In Without Me, the audience sang a lot. A famous track. Crying While You’re Dancing was one of my favorites.

Creature in the Black Night was soft until the breakdown that even had a blegh, so it was a nice surprise.

Their last song was Neon Grave, which is a song dedicated to Rory’s father, who died of cancer. This is also a good track, with a powerful breakdown and ending. Great choice to end their setlist.

While we were waiting for Motionless In White, sound HIM: Wicked Game. It was a nice moment, and I’m sure that most of the people there loved it too.

At 21.00, the main course began. First, with some crazy visuals with a cat and techno music, and then the guys in black appeared, and their show started.

Motionless In White

Their 2026 tour is the continuation of them presenting their latest album, but now with a new single added, Afraid of the Dark. The show in Madrid was one of the last dates. This was their first time as a headliner in Madrid, since their previous date, in February 2025, was cancelled because Chris was sick. I was going to go to that show, and I was travelling to Madrid when it got cancelled. I was very sad back then, mainly because I love the Scoring album, so I wanted to see that tour. So now I was very super happy and excited to finally go see them, and due to the fact that they are still playing songs from my favorite Motionless’s album. I love the album since it was the first album of Motionless that I ever listened to, and besides the music, I love the lyrics filled with social criticism and current events.

The Show

They started with Scoring’s songs: Meltdown and one of my favorites, Sign of Life. Then A-M-E-R-I-C-A and the heavy Thoughts & Prayers with that amazing blegh and breakdown included.

Next, Voices, a song that has an LGBTQ community support message, and while they were playing, Chris had a Progress Pride Flag on his microphone as well as in the visuals on the screen. This was followed by their new single, Afraid of the Dark.

More songs of the Scoring album: Werewolf (another favorite of mine, with their homage to Michael Jackson) and Hollow Points, in which someone from the audience handed a vinyl to Chris to sign.

Necessary Evil came after, the one that was recorded with Jonathan Davis from Korn, and has on its lyrics a play on words “It’s my party and I’ll die when I want to. Die when I want to, die when I want to” changing the lyrics of a classic American song by Lesley Gore “It’s my party, and I’ll cry if I want to. Cry if I want to, cry if I want to”.

Then, one of their heaviest songs, also from Scoring, and also another one of my favorites from their music and lyrics (basically a critic to greed): Slaughterhouse, which was recorded with Knocked Loose’s singer, Bryan Garris, and in this tour, they’re singing with Make Them Suffer’s singer: Sean Harmanis, who did a great job.

Later, Rats, the popular Disguise, and the absolute earworm Nothing Ever After (their feature with ILLENIUM), Scoring the End of the World, the short and ethereal City Lights, and move on to Not My Type: Dead as Fuck 2.

The band played Cyberhex, but a short version, so I was a little bumbed about that. Then, with the lovely Another Life, I was pleased again, plus the whole audience was singing and with their cellphones lighting up the place in a beautiful moment.

Chris thanked their supporting bands by asking the crowd to applaud Make Them Suffer and Dayseeker one more time, and they proceeded to sing the last song, the super romantic Eternally Yours, and he ended the show by throwing off red roses.

The show finished at 22.30 without an encore and by playing loud in the speakers, Tears For Fears: Everybody Wants To Rule the World. I had the hope that they would add to this date Masterpiece since they didn’t play in Madrid last year, and because that was one of the songs that were missing from that setlist, yet that didn’t happen. Well, of course, there are always songs that you miss, but that’s life, at least I got to see them, at last, the band I’ve been super obsessed with for some years now, and they did a hell of a show, so I’m very glad with what I experienced.

A note apart, the whole band was amazing, as well as all the musicians of the supporting bands. And in some songs of the Motionless show, they had the performance of the Cherry Bombs, a female group of dancers who also did pyro performances.

An absolutely solid night.
