Vegan Deathcore with To The Grave – Everyone’s A Murderer – Album Review

The Band

To The Grave is a deathcore band from Australia. Formed in 2010, their songs are usually about veganism, climate change, and other social justice topics.

The band members are vegan, and they talk about animal liberation, they use their music as a vehicle for their message. In the beginning, they used to sing about normal deathcore things like violence, but then their singer, Dane, had his vegan awakening, and he started to write about it.

Band Members

  • Dane Evans – vocals
  • Jack Simioni – guitars & programming
  • Nic Webb – guitars
  • Matt Clarke – bass
  • Rangi Barnes – drums

The Album

Everyone’s A Murderer is their third studio album. It was released on August 30th, 2024.

The Songs

1. Set Yourself On Fire (In Public). The first track. Super low and heavy, blast beats, death lyrics, vegan lyrics. A blegh and a breakdown. It’s about not wanting to live in this world, full of psychopaths (because of what people do to animals).

2. DxE Or Die. Pig squeals, sludgy, grit, slow and low. In the final part, a lyric reference to Lamb of God’s Redneck.

3. A Body For A Body ft. Connor Dickson & Siantelle Johns. I liked this song, it’s more classic metal.

4. Burn Your Local Butcher. Super brutal. Switch in rhythms. Guitar harmonics. Chainsaw sounds.

5. Vegan Day Of Violence. Super brutal. Pig squeals.

6. Gaschamber P.T. Instrumental track. It starts with some guitar riffs with a transmission of the news in the back. It’s a moment of “peace” between the songs. I couldn’t understand what the news was saying, but I could guess the context and the name of the track.

7. Made In Aus. It begins calmer, just for a couple of seconds, and then blast beats and the craziness keeps increasing.

8. Eight Four One Six ft. Sophie Wilchers. It gets heavier and slower as it progresses. This track features the animal rights activist Sophie Wilchers who also sings with an evangelical voice that contrasts with Dane’s gutturals.

9. Terrormilitary. The guitar riff gives a classic heavy-metal vibe to the song. Guttural vocals, a savage breakdown almost at the end, and finishes with a pig squeal that froze my blood, but in a good way.

10. Dead Wrong ft. Micheal Kearney. Great guitar work and two solos. Deep bass. Catchy chorus, pig squeals, and a bree. Vocal style changes, highs and lows, and even hardcore vibes. Blast beats. A variety that keeps you hooked. My favorite song.

Final Thoughts

This is not a typical deathcore album about violence, since it has a message.

To The Grave music is to raise awareness of the countless voiceless beings (animals) and activists who work rescuing animals anonymously from farm factories. Those actions are illegal, so they have to work in the shadows, or they would face criminal charges.

I’m not a deathcore fan, yet, I know just a little, I like this band’s vibe, their lyrics, and how brutal they sound, this gives more power to their words.

Everything regarding musicianship is tight and well done. It’s a solid album and a great way of activism through music.
