The Album

This is the second part of Lord of the Lost’s OPVS NOIR trilogy, which was released on December 12, 2025. It has collaborations with artists like IAMX, Käärijä, Infected Rain, and Anna Brunner.

The Songs

1. The Fall From Grace. The first song reminded me of old Lord of the Lost, but more rock than metal, except for some growls done by Chris during the breakdown. Good track.

2. Would You Walk With Me Through Hell? This song features the metal band from Moldavia, Infected Rain, and their singer, Lena Scissorhands. I didn’t know them,” she sings, clean and growls, just like Chris.

The creepy but beautiful notes on the piano were a nice touch.

3. One Of Us Will Be Next. It starts with a piano and Chris singing. A lovely and sad ballad. The pre-chorus and chorus evoke an epic and grandiose feeling, yet are gloomy because of the lyrics’ theme. Fine guitar solo at the end.

4. Walls Of Eden. I liked this song, great guitar riffs, heavier, yet also with an epic vibe provided by the choirs in the back.

5. Raveyard. It features the Finnish rapper Käärijä, who had a great moment in the Eurovision 2023 that was a contender in that show with Lord of the Lost. He sings in Finnish and in German here.

The song is an 80s-style but with a modern touch. Danceable, synthpop yet heavy and weird at times, but in a good way, very eclectic.

6. The Last Star. This seemed to me a typical LOTL song, with Chris’s growls. Good.

7. What Have We Become. This track features the English musician IAMX. I like the voice and the vibe that he adds to it.

This is my favorite song on this album.

8. Winter’s Dying Heart. Good, but too pompous for me; it didn’t grab me.

9. Scarlight. Also epic and grandiose, but with an 80s synthpop sound in the keyboards. Great guitar solo.

10. Please Break The Silence. Here, they collaborate with the German metal band, League of Distortion, in which Anna Brunner stands out. This song has a more pop, catchy sound. I liked it and her voice.

11. Sharp Edge. The last track is a ballad, soft and calm, to end this album. The clavichord’s sound in the keys is a pleasant element.

Final Thoughts

I think this album is ok, but not my favorite. I need to listen to it more. Except for a couple of songs, I find it less digestible, denser, and less catchy.

Vol. 1 is my favorite from this trilogy so far, since many of its songs were stuck in my head for a while. We’ll see what will happen with Vol. 3.
