The Album

Todschick (Dead Girl) is Nachtblut’s seventh studio album. It was released on February 21, 2025. Produced by Chris Harms (Lord of the Lost singer).

Their lyrics are in German.

The Songs

1. Von Hass Getrieben (Driven by Hate). The first song on the album starts with a funeral type of music until the heavy instruments drop, but always keeping that church organ type of sound in the background and that dark, sinister vibe. Black metal vocals that go with some exquisite bass lines. It has a catchy chorus and a great guitar solo. Symphonic black metal. It ends abruptly.

2. Todschick (Dead Girl). The title track. 80’s vibe, electronic elements, more on the pop side, totally danceable, but still dark and somber. My favorite song on the album.

3. Nachtgeweiht (Night-Consecrated). A beautiful piano, strings, and symphonic orchestration lead this track but without abandoning the dark, creepy, sinister tone that is present throughout the album. Love the bass. Thicker chorus with double bass drums.

4. Das Leben der Anderen (The Lives of Others). Spoken words with music in the background. Emotional and melancholic tone, where he describes everything people enjoy and he doesn’t. The black metal chorus in which Askeroth screams “nur ich nicht”  (only I don’t) sounds heartbreaking because it’s about that lonely feeling and longing for the happiness other people project on social media.

5. Manchmal Kommen Sie Wieder (Sometimes They Come Back). A synthwave track, very 80s, electronic. The chorus is black metal though, the lyrics are more on the political side.

6. Mein Ist Die Hölle (Mine Is Hell). A heavier track with a typical black metal theme (anti-religion).

7. Götterstille (Divine Silence). Symphonic black metal.

8. Kinder Des Zorns (Children of Anger). Black metal, heavy riffs. The lyrics are from the perspective of a young man going to war, to the battle.

9. Stirb Langsam (Die Slowly). A canteen song. At first, it seems like another pirate metal alcohol-drinking anthem about celebrating, and fun, yet the bridge is black metal and if we pay attention to the lyrics is a song that criticizes excessive drinking.

10. Schneller Als Der Tod (Faster Than Death). A Western song, cowboys, horses, and all that stuff. Black metal but with some humor.

Final Thoughts

Todschick is a good work. It has a variety, of different styles that are mostly on the symphonic black metal side and go to some 80s synthwave style and even Western, all with a gothic sinister tone that always prevails.
