A few days ago, the music world delivered us the news of Pantera’s long-awaited reunion. After so many years since their separation and a lot of speculations about new line-ups, the band finally decided to reunite with Zakk Wylde on guitar and Charlie Benante on drums.
Many fans do not agree with Pantera’s new lineup, because of the obvious lack of both the late Abbott brothers (Dimebag Darrell and Vinnie Paul, guitar and drums respectively, founding members) but others are open to this new possibility.
In regard to their songs, Zakk Wylde will be the perfect fit since he was a close friend, especially Dimebag. However, since he has a different style of playing the guitar, he would not have problems adjusting to the musical structures of their songs and their specific ways of performing them. In the other case, Charlie Benante, Anthrax’s drummer, is an amazing and versatile drummer, so he will be amazing for his role too.
We will have to wait to see what these guys are going to prepare for the future. They are just announcing this news and also a 2023 tour. So, we must be glad to experience a new form of Pantera, especially the fans that had not had the opportunity to see the band playing live before, with their original formation.
