The Album

Bodies is the band’s third studio album. It was released on April 4, 2025.

The Songs

1. DIESEL.  The first song on the album. A super industrial and ethereal sound at the same time, both perfectly combined.

2. Revolver. It has a metalcore ballad type of vibe, that gets more chaotic at times. Heavy breakdown.

3. Silver Swarm. A sexy groovy song. Super catchy. Desire and manipulation.

4. Only Ever You. Soft. Love song.

5. fall into the wind. Instrumental track. Relax, sludgy. Emphasis on the guitar here. Kind of creepy, though.

6. TONGUES. Catchy, nu metal, industrial, heavier, screams, sexy, sick guitar riff. It’s one of my favorite tracks on the album.

7. nerv. Nu metal, metalcore, heavy, but the chorus is super melodic, eerie, and catchy, I love it. Nice screams and a strong breakdown.

8. Obsession. This was the first song I listened to from this band and I loved it. It’s my favorite track from this album. Hot and sticky with a 90s grunge feel. The bass sounds killing it at the outro.

9. CRUSH. Soft, sludgy, atmospheric, calmer, delightful.

10. under the knife. Nu metal. Great.

11. For Now. A beautiful and sad song that pictures the end of a relationship.

Final Thoughts

I don’t know what’s so special about Australia. Maybe it’s the water or the atmosphere. The number of great bands there, especially in the metalcore genre, is unbelievable. I haven’t heard a band from there that I don’t like yet.

Thornhill did an excellent album with Bodies. Their lyrics are mostly about love, or more precisely toxic obsessive love. Their songs are short but heavy, sticky, psychedelic, industrial, and nu metal yet with a relaxed, dreamy, and sexy tone very similar to Deftones. You can hear their influence in their music. Very 90s. Their singer, Jacob, reminds me a bit of Michael Hutchence of INXS because of that seductive voice and performance, he and Thornhill’s music exudes that vibe. A lot of distortion on the instruments. Overall a great work.
