The Album

Tsunami Sea is Spiritbox’s second studio album. It was released on March 7, 2025.

The Songs

1. Fata MorganaThe first song on the album and Courtney starts on the heavy side, growling except for the chorus. A solid track with a clean guitar part by Mike before the last chorus, a nice touch.

2. Black Rainbow. Massive, tight, and dense, with some electronic distorted voice of Courtney at times. I love the guitar lines, it gives the song a haunted vibe.

3. Perfect Soul. A sweet and melodic song that centers on Courtney’s beautiful voice. It’s a brief moment of peace to rest for a little while before the heaviness continues.

4. Keep Sweet. Clean vocals, except for some lines with growls, a catchy chorus, and a calmer song. One of my favorite songs on the album. Electronic elements mixed with heavily distorted instruments. Great guitar solo.

5. Soft Spine. I love it. Super heavy and full of anger. It’s about all the corrupt people in the industry and the fantasy of revenge.

6. Tsunami Sea. The title track. Super sweet, beautiful love track. Harmonics and djent on guitar. The bass and drums, are all clean and perfect sounding. Another great track.

7. A Haven with Two Faces. Beautiful song with some growl lines intertwined throughout and in the breakdown. Catchy.

8. No Loss, No Love. Solid, growls, guitar creating dissonant sounds, electronic elements as she sings the clean parts that are delivered in a spoken words style.

9. Crystal Roses. Soft with electronic effects, and clean vocals. Nice.

10. Ride the Wave. Clean vocals, and a melancholic vibe that lasts until the breakdown. Then, Courtney unleashes her growls to finish with the sweet clean chorus again.

11. Deep End. The last song is delightful, and relaxing. Charming acoustic guitar lines, at the end. A lovely way to end the album.

Final Thoughts

Throughout last week, I listened to Spiritbox’s first album Eternal Blue (2021) to compare that album with this new work. Tsunami Sea it’s much heavier and even though their previous studio album has my favorite songs from them, this new album is very good too, and it’s perfect especially if you need energy to motivate yourself. I love their ambient sound, but very heavy at the same time.
