Lacuna Coil – Madrid, 2025 – Concert Review

Madrid, October 16, 2025

La Riviera

Sleepless Empire Tour

Opening band: Nonpoint

Nonpoint

Nonpoint is an American groove, nu-metal band formed in 1997. They have 10 studio albums.

The singer and the drummer are from Puerto Rico, and the band originated there; that is why the singer sings some songs in Spanish.

Band members

  • Elias Soriano – vocals
  • Jaysin Zeilstra – lead guitar
  • Rasheed Thomas – rhythm guitar
  • Adam Woloszyn – bass
  • Robb Rivera – drums

The Show

Since it was the first time I saw this band, I didn’t know their songs (so I don’t post their setlist and because I didn’t find it online either), but some of the songs I recognized were: Chaos and EarthquakesIn the Air Tonight (Phil Collins cover), and Bullet With a Name (which a lot of people sang).

They played for around 50 minutes.

Lacuna Coil

Lacuna Coil is an Italian gothic metal band formed in 1994.

Their music has evolved into a heavier sound, characterized by the female/male vocals that define their style. Cristina provides a sweet, melodic, delicate singing, alternating with Andrea, who does harsh vocals.

Their show was to promote their latest album, Sleepless Empire, released on February 14, 2025. You can read my review of the album here: https://metalbere.com/a-heavier-album-from-lacuna-coil-sleepless-empire-album-review/

Band Members

  • Cristina Scabbia — vocals
  • Andrea Ferro — vocals
  • Daniele Salomone — guitars
  • Marco Coti Zelati — bass, keyboards
  • Richard Meiz — drums

The Show

The show started at 21.12 with an intro and then went straight to their heavier artillery, Layers of Time, Reckless, and Hosting the Shadow. Followed by some classics, Kill the Light, Die & Rise, and Spellbound.

In the Mean Time, Intoxicated went next, and Downfall with a guitar solo that I love.

Time for a remake of another classic, Heaven’s a Lie XX, yet in a heavier version, with Andrea doing harsh vocals, slower, muddier, less poppy than the original, although I love the original (it was one of the first songs I heard of Lacuna Coil in my teenage years), I also like this version.

Another song of which I love the guitar solo is In Nomine Patris, which leads the way to The House of Shame, Blood, Tears, Dust, and Gravity.

Oxygen and one of my favorites, Nothing Stands in Our Way, ended the first part of the show.

For the encore, they play The Siege, the highly loved I Wish You Were Dead, Swamped XX (another heavier remake of a classic, yet very good), and to end it all with Never Dawn.

The concert finished around 22.45

For me, this was the second time I had seen Lacuna Coil. They were the last concert I went to before the Pandemic, in Chile, in February 2020, but now I got to see them from the second row, so it was amazing.

I like the transformation that they’ve had, re-recording other versions of their older songs and going in a powerful direction. When I knew the band, they were goth metal, yet softer. Now they’ve become darker and their music much stronger, something that is reflected in their lower music tone and especially with Andrea’s singing gutturals and harsh vocals, which provide a contrast to Cristina’s beautiful voice. I love that they bring back so many memories from my youth, but also that they’ve grown together with us, at the same time.
