Band Members

  • Cristina Scabbia – vocals
  • Andrea Ferro – vocals
  • Marco Coti Zelati – bass, keyboards, guitars
  • Richard Meiz – drums

+ Randy Blythe (David Randall Blythe) is an American vocalist and singer of the metal band Lamb of God

The Song

The song Hosting the Shadow comes after the band released their song In the Mean Time with Ash Costello, singer of New Years Day, and the departure of Lacuna Coil’s guitarist Diego Cavallotti

Hosting the Shadow delves into feelings of isolation, pain, and suffering finding solace and strength through it. Introspective and haunting. Representing a contrast between light and darkness. The song is catchy, in the Lacuna Coil style, and it counts on the participation of Lamb of God’s singer, Randy Blythe, who adds more brutality to the ambiance, especially with his evil laugh.

There are rumors that at least this last song would be part of their next album. We’ll have to wait and see and just like their previous song, In the Mean Time, we have a couple of good songs to enjoy for now.

Lyrics

[Verse 1: Andrea Ferro]

My time is up but I don’t care

I march alone

Alienated

I won’t drift away

Born a loner

I don’t bind

I just need the pain to feel alive

[Pre-Chorus: Andrea Ferro]

I flirt with the dark

I’m suffocating

The turmoil inside

To set my demons straight

[Chorus: Cristina Scabbia, Cristina Scabbia & Andrea Ferro]

‘Cause I’m not afraid of the absence of light

At the bottom of the Well, I find respite

And it doesn’t even matter if I’m dead or alive

Alone, I’m hosting the shadow

[Verse 2: Andrea Ferro]

This life is coming with a price

No room for negotiation

A never-ending debt I cannot repay

I need to hold on

And don’t be afraid

To embrace the darkest side

Of my bleak heart

[Pre-Chorus: Andrea Ferro]

I traded my soul

Knowing I took the chance

Of losing myself in the exchange

[Chorus: Cristina Scabbia, Cristina Scabbia & Andrea Ferro]

‘Cause I’m not afraid of the absence of light

At the bottom of the Well, I find respite

And it doesn’t even matter if I’m dead or alive

Alone, I’m hosting the shadow

[Bridge: Cristina Scabbia, Cristina Scabbia & Andrea Ferro]

Let the rain fall hard

And purge the road

‘Cause my life feels so uneasy

I’ve got nothing to lose

Oh, I know

I’m finding comfort into the gloom

Feeling bulletproof

Laughing with my shadow

[Refrain: Cristina Scabbia & Andrea Ferro]

Laughing with my shadow

Laughing with my shadow

Laughing with my shadow

Laughing with my shadow

[Spoken Word: Randy Blythe]

And it doesn’t even matter if I’m dead or alive

[Chorus: Cristina Scabbia, Cristina Scabbia & Andrea Ferro]

‘Cause I’m not afraid of the absence of light

At the bottom of the Well, I find respite

And it doesn’t even matter if I’m dead or alive

Alone, I’m hosting the shadow

Let the rain fall hard

And purge the road

Alone, I’m hosting the shadow

Let the rain fall down

And purge my soul

Alone, I’m hosting the shadow
