Get Your Dark Fix: Lord of the Lost Rocks the Stage in Chile – Concert Review

This was the first time Lord of the Lost was in South America. They were a few years ago in México, but this time they added more countries, Argentina, Brazil, and of course, Chile. Santiago was their 4th South American city.

The date was Thursday, April 27th, 2023 and the show took place at RBX (Rock Bar Xperience). The opening Chilean bands were Somberwind and The Fallacy. The venue has a capacity of 200–250 people, and it was at 85%, not bad at all.

Around 21:45 the guys were on the stage and began the show with Drag Me to Hell, followed by Leave Your Hate in the Comments. Two songs on the heavier side. We sang and jumped, accompanying the band.

Chris Harms, the singer, greeted us and told us how happy they were to be here and what a wonderful experience they were having so far, in this part of the tour.

It was the turn of Morgana, that was greatly appreciated. Then Born With a Broken Heart, an older track from Judas’s album, and The Future of a Past Life, an apocalyptic track from their most recent work, Blood and Glitter.

The show continued with another Blood and Glitter song, Reset the Preset. Followed by the classics Prison and Dry the Rain. Later it was the turn of a ballad, Break Your Heart.

In this first part of the show I was on the side of one of the speakers, it was so loud that the sound was saturated. But then I moved to the left side of the stage, behind the speaker, and it was so much better.

Lord of the Lost was the opening act of Iron Maiden’s last tour, so Chris asked us to support them, so they could continue playing with the legendary British band. Of course, the next song they had to play was Children of the Damned, their cover of an Iron Maiden classic.

Next came two older songs, The Gospel of Judas and Under the Sun. All to leave room for one of their heaviest songs, and one of my favorites, Full Metal Whore.

Then, another classic awaited the fans, Loreley, and the cheerful, Die Tomorrow that describes that mixed feeling of anxiousness and happiness when you’re getting ready to go to a show. Reminding us to enjoy every day as if it was our last, because, as the song says: “you still can die tomorrow”.

Now, it was time for Blood and Glitter, the song which gives the name to their latest album. Chris presented it as the song that is representing Germany in the Eurovision Song Contest, and he referred to it as “one of the most metal contests in the world”, ironically of course :D. After that, another track of Blood and Glitter, One Last Song.

The last part of the show was Blood for Blood. Followed by La Bomba, which combines salsa Latin rhythms played by Gared Dirge on Keyboards and Percussion mixed with the heavier and distorted sounds by Pi Stoffers on Guitar and Class Grenayde on bass. Topped with growls and melodic vocals by Chris Harms and the drums of Niklas Kahl. But the best part of this song is that when they play it live, Pi and Class do a little jumps choreography that is so cute and funny, at the same time.

The last song was a cover of Roxette, the famous Swedish rock-pop duo of the late 80s, The Look.

When they were saying goodbye, in the background sounded a cover that the band made of the iconic Y.M.C.A. by Village People, but with naughtier lyrics, called L.O.T.L.

The setlist was the same they played in the rest of South America.

The show lasted around 1 hour and a half.

Finally, on the speakers, someone announced that the band was going out to meet the fans before they left for the airport for their next tour stop, Brazil. The majority of people waited, and then they appeared and started taking pictures and signing posters for every fan, one by one. They were super nice and humble.

It was so refreshing to meet a band like this. Even though they have played with legends like Iron Maiden they still have time to hang out with their fans, who were waiting for them here, on the other side of the world, very, very far away from their hometown.

So, long live Lord of the Lost, and I hope they return to this part of the planet soon.
