The Album

The band released their fourth studio albumThe Darkest Place I’ve Ever Been, on April 25, 2025.

The Songs

1. The Darkest Place I’ve Ever Been. The title track and the first song of the album start with some soft riffs. But this tranquility lasts a few moments before Florent, the singer, screams and blast beats appear, then it evolves into a hip hop song mixed with metalcore, a dramatic breakdown with a lot of screams. Great track and opener.

2. Creature. Starts with the singer rapping in French, then it continues as a metalcore song. Melodic chorus. The song is about someone trying to fight their inner self, a nightmare-like creature.

3. A Line in the Dust. ft. Mat Welsh from the British metalcore band While She Sleeps. Ballad. Catchy chorus. It gets chaotic at times.

4. Blood Red. Starts as a ballad. Florent raps in French. Nice rhythm. Betrayal in love.

5. Sulfur. Heavy from the get-go. My favorite song on the album. Melodic catchy chorus, solid breakdown at the end.

6. Sombre 16. Short length track. French hip hop.

7. The Great Unknown. It comes with an epic vibe. They resemble Linkin Park at times. Melodic metalcore, nu metal. Great growls.

8. La Valse Du Temps. (The Waltz of Time). Beautiful piano, French singing. Then the heavy instruments drop. I love the drums here, sounds very clear and complex.

A lot of growls, a catchy melodic chorus. I loved the build-up for the breakdown and the breakdown. Then it returns only some sweet guitar notes and the singer with a chorus in the back, it sounds simple yet strong. It has a power ballad style. It ends with a piano while Florent softly sings in French.

9. Deep Inferno. Heavier, with a hip-hop, nu metal vibe. Very Linkin Park.

10. Requiem. Sad beginning and then some great guitar riffs and growls change the vibe. Fast. Death metal vocals in some passages. Changes in rhythms. More on the classic metal style. It also has black metal screams. Guitars and bass sound amazing and low. It ends with the same sad tone as the first part, with the same simple and stripped notes.

11. Funeral. It starts with a marvelous and melancholic piano. Florent sings with a sweet voice that turns harsh and full of feelings. Sad and pretty, according to the theme and lyrics of the song. Charming piano. A gorgeous way to finish the record.

Final Thoughts

Florent raps in French, screams, and growls, and creates some insane combinations and transitions within styles. At times, they remind me a lot of Linkin Park, but with metalcore. Florent has some similar tones to Chester Bennington’s, Linkin Park’s late singer. That provides a beautiful and haunted atmosphere.

Music-wise, they play a heavy mix of metalcore, hip hop, and nu metal.

The lyrics are more on the depressive side, of wanting to escape and feelings of hopelessness.

I liked the album, and I loved the mix of English and French, sounds sick!
