Electric Callboy (ex Eskimo Callboy) is a German metalcore band formed in 2010. They mix metalcore with electronic elements, and they’re known for their funny videos and songs.
Band Members
- Kevin Ratajczak – vocals, keyboards, programming
- Nico Sallach – vocals
- Daniel “Danskimo” Haniß – lead guitar
- Pascal Schillo – rhythm guitar, backing vocals
- Daniel Klossek – bass, backing vocals
- David-Karl Friedrich – drums
In 2020, they had a change of vocalist and added their new singer, Nico Sallach. Then, they changed their name from Eskimo Callboy to Electric Callboy, because it could be offensive to Arctic people.
This new formation released their sixth studio album, Tekkno on September, 16th, 2022. This work included songs like We Got the Moves, Pump It, and Tekkno Train. Previously, they released an EP that featured the track Hypa Hypa, one of their most successful song so far.
The song that represents their new era is Hypa Hypa:
I got to know these guys, like many of the bands I have recently known thanks to YouTube reactors. I saw a couple of their music videos and I liked that they’re hilarious, but that they were also very talented as musicians.
They mix different styles on their songs, like metalcore, EDM, and 80s pop. Besides bringing an 80s visual aesthetic to their videos. Kind of reminded me of Steel Panther (they play glam but with comic and super explicit lyrics), as a not-serious band.
I’ve seen some live videos and on their shows, all the audience seemed to have a blast.
Breakdowns, harsh vocals, and pig squeals mixed with techno sounds and 80s melodies. I think that their music is super energetic and would be perfect for train at the gym or for a party, for me, they could be defined as gymcore or partycore music, as I’ve heard.
They have probed that you could make good music, even metal, and not have to be super serious, you’re allowed to have fun and make people laugh, while they’re enjoying a good song.
My recommendation for you is to approach their music with the videos because they add half of the experience, otherwise, you would miss so many comedic elements.
My favorite Electric Callboy song and video:
