The Song
Dream Stealer is the first Arch Enemy song after their 2022 album, Deceivers, and since the friendly departure of Jeff Loomis on guitar and the integration of his replacement, Joey Concepcion.
The song starts with an epic celestial organ until Alissa releases a magnificent scream, and then the instruments drop. There are multiple switches in rhythms and various guitar solos. Nice riffs that at times sound similar to Slayer sound. Catchy chorus.
The lyrics are about an entity, Freddy Krueger type, that steals our dreams making us feel that we’re not able to reach our goals, leaving us insecure, and with no confidence in ourselves.
I like the song. It’s super fast, the drums are insane, and Alissa’s voice is super powerful here, reminded me a bit of when Angela Gossow was on vocals. I hope that this is a preview of their next album, and if it’s on the same route as this song, it will be a total banger.
